HB321 Summary

• Increases the threshold for county commission appointment of a water board member from 5,000 to 25,000 water customers served in counties other than where the authorizing municipality is principally located.

• Eliminates the provision allowing county commissions to appoint a board member in counties where the water board owns a major reservoir located entirely within that county.

• Requires any board members previously appointed under the reservoir provision to have their terms expire upon the bill's effective date.

• Maintains the overall board composition of six members appointed by the authorizing municipality and one member appointed by the county mayors' association.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and gubernatorial approval, at which time the water board will reorganize.
