• Requires paid fire departments to provide supplemental cancer insurance coverage to career firefighters who have served 12 consecutive months, covering 16 specified cancer types including bladder, breast, lung, prostate, leukemia, and lymphoma.

• Provides lump sum benefits of $25,000 (for advanced cancers requiring surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, or with metastasis) or $6,250 (for carcinoma in situ or early melanomas), plus monthly disability payments up to $3,000 for career firefighters for up to 36 months.

• Makes coverage available to certified and non-certified volunteer firefighters on the same terms, with volunteer departments not required to pay premiums but allowed to contribute voluntarily.

• Exempts all benefit payments and premium contributions from state income tax and exempts premium funds from premium taxes.
