HB4 Summary

• Amends Section 36-6-6 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to cap salary increases for appointed officials and exempt service employees.

• Applies to department heads, assistant department heads, cabinet members, assistant cabinet members, exempt service officers and employees, and executive assistants in the Governor's office.

• Establishes that any salary increase for these positions may not exceed the pay plan of the Merit System as set forth in Section 36-26-12.

• Becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor, or upon otherwise becoming law.
