HB414 Summary

• Increases the threshold for county commission representation on municipal water works boards from 5,000 to 25,000 water customers served in counties other than where the authorizing municipality is principally located.

• Eliminates the provision allowing county commissions to appoint board members based on the board owning a major reservoir located entirely within the county.

• Requires board members appointed by county commissions to be residents of the county making the appointment.

• Terminates the terms of any existing board members appointed based on major reservoir ownership, effective upon this act's passage.

• Takes effect on the first day of the third month following passage and gubernatorial approval, at which time the water board will reorganize.
