• Authorizes emergency medical services providers (paramedics, EMTs, advanced EMTs, and intermediate EMTs) currently licensed by the Alabama Department of Public Health to obtain distinctive license plates for personal vehicles.

• Requires proof of active, unexpired licensure verified through the Alabama Department of Public Health website before issuance of the distinctive plate.

• Limits the distinctive plates to personally owned, private passenger vehicles, including station wagons and pick-up trucks, registered in the applicant's name, replacing standard license plates.

• Establishes a Class C misdemeanor penalty for anyone who falsely obtains or certifies an individual to obtain a distinctive EMSP license plate.

• Makes the law effective January 1, 2020, with the Commissioner of Revenue approving the plate design and county officials issuing plates through standard procedures.
