• Amends Sections 12-18-10 and 12-18-61 of the Alabama Code to revise compensation for retired justices and judges called to interim active duty status.

• Retired Supreme Court justices, appellate judges, and circuit judges receive 75 percent of their former position's salary as retirement benefits, adjusted with any salary changes.

• Retired judges called to interim active duty receive additional compensation not exceeding 25 percent of their retirement salary, subject to available funding.

• Retired circuit judges may only be called to interim active duty when the presiding judge requests appointment, the Chief Justice certifies need based on weighted caseload study, and the circuit presiding judge concurs; certification must be renewed annually.

• Effective date is the first day of the third month following passage and Governor approval.
