HB65 Summary

• Exempts the Prince Hall Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Masons of Alabama and the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge F.&A.M. of Alabama from all state, county, and municipal sales and use taxes.

• Recognizes the Prince Hall Grand Lodge as the first and oldest African-American fraternal organization in Alabama, organized in 1870.

• Recognizes the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge F.&A.M. as the oldest predominantly Caucasian fraternal organization in Alabama, organized in 1821.

• Designates both organizations as the only regularly constituted Grand Lodges of Free and Accepted Masons legally entitled to operate in Alabama.

• Effective date is the first day of the third month following passage and gubernatorial approval.
