Applies to all community water systems and non-community public water systems serving at least 25 of the same individuals for at least six months per year.

Water mains must be constructed of materials that do not contaminate water, with gaskets and O-rings certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 61 to prevent microbiological growth.

Water mains installed after January 1, 2013 must maintain a minimum five-foot horizontal separation from sanitary sewer mains, with continuous casing required at crossings and 18-inch vertical separation where possible.

Uncovered finished water storage reservoirs are prohibited; all finished water storage structures must have watertight roofs, hatches, and locking access manholes to exclude outside contamination.

Storage tanks permitted after December 31, 2006 must provide minimum 50 percent water height fluctuation, minimize water age through proper mixing, be designed for cleaning and repair, and be disinfected and bacteriologically tested before use.
