Recognizes Officers Brittany Hayes, Reginald Reynolds, Nicholas Lemoine, and Kent Anderson as nominees for the 2019 Alabama Legislative Medal of Honor for Law Enforcement.

Officers responded on May 21, 2018, to a shooting victim in Marks Village Housing Community in East Birmingham and found a 16-year-old boy shot five times in both legs with a fractured femur and severed femoral artery.

Officer Hayes applied direct pressure to gunshot wounds using surgical gloves, while Officers Reynolds and Anderson applied tourniquets to the victim's legs; Officer Lemoine adjusted a tourniquet when blood loss continued.

Medical staff at UAB Hospital determined the officers' quick actions saved the victim's life, stating he would have died from blood loss had they not provided immediate emergency care.

The House of Representatives honors these officers for exemplifying the qualities of those who serve and protect their community.
