SB138 Summary

• Authorizes the statewide 911 Board to administer a statewide voice and data system utilizing emerging communication technologies capable of connecting to 911 systems and delivering 911 and emergency information to districts.

• Authorizes the 911 Board to establish policies and procedures to fund advisory services, grants, and training for the various 911 districts in the state to the extent funds are available.

• Requires the 911 Board to develop and publish an annual "911 State Plan Annual Report" monitoring trends in voice communications technology and enhanced 911 service technology, incorporating GIS mapping and recommended strategies for efficient service delivery.

• Requires the Executive Director of the statewide 911 Board to prepare an annual report detailing training provided to 911 dispatchers, submitted to legislative leadership by February 1 each year starting in 2020.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
