Amends Section 16-1-44.1 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to allow retired law enforcement officers to serve as school security personnel and carry firearms on duty.

Requires retired law enforcement officers to have at least 25 years of law enforcement experience and be retired in good standing from a federal, state, or local law enforcement agency.

Mandates that retired law enforcement officers complete Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency-approved active shooter training and annually pass firearm requalification required of active law enforcement officers.

Requires retired law enforcement officers to be trained in appropriate use of non-lethal weapons and carry such weapons while on duty.

Clarifies that nothing in the section confers power of arrest upon any individual; effective the first day of the third month following passage and gubernatorial approval.
