Local fire districts are prohibited from assessing any fees or dues on forest land classified as timber land for ad valorem tax purposes.

The Alabama Forestry Commission is assigned authority and responsibility for control and coordination of fire prevention, fire protection, and fire fighting services on timber land.

Forest land owners may voluntarily enter into agreements with local fire districts to provide fire protection services for a negotiated fee.

Fire districts that implemented negotiated dues structures by resolution prior to the law's effective date are not invalidated by this act.

The act becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
