• Parolees who violate parole conditions (other than new arrests, convictions, or absconding) shall receive credit against their confinement term for time spent in holding pending the board's imposition of the confinement period.

• The maximum confinement period for parole violations remains 45 consecutive days, but this term is now reduced by the holding time already served.

• The reduction for holding time applies retroactively to any person currently serving a parole violation confinement period.

• Amends Section 15-22-32, Code of Alabama 1975, regarding Board of Pardons and Paroles procedures for parole violation hearings and sanctions.

• The act becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
