SB366 Summary

• Applies only to Baldwin County and governs the formation of city school systems that separate from the county board of education.

• A city seeking to establish its own board of education must enter into an agreement with the county board of education and receive State Superintendent approval by July 1 following the city council's approval vote.

• The city board of education must assume all outstanding indebtedness and contractual obligations of the county board allocable to school facilities within the city limits.

• The city must pay the county board of education an amount equal to the net depreciated value of capital assets for transferred school facilities, as shown in the most recent audited financial statements.

• The act becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
