AL SB373

Increases the Joint Transportation Committee membership from 12 to 13 members in both the Senate and House of Representatives.

Requires one senator and one house member to be from each U.S. congressional district in the state, one senator and one house member from each Alabama Department of Transportation region, and one senator and one house member from the minority party to serve at-large.

Members must be appointed within 30 days of the act's effective date for initial appointments, and within 5 legislative days after the convening of the first regular session after each subsequent legislative election.

Appointing authorities must coordinate appointments to ensure committee membership reflects the racial, gender, geographic, urban, rural, and economic diversity of the state.

The act becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
