• Repeals seven Alabama Code sections regulating firearm carrying and possession restrictions, including provisions on concealed weapons, pistols on private property, and crime commission while armed.

• Amends Section 13A-11-61.2 to revise restrictions on firearm possession at specific locations including police stations, detention facilities, courthouses, and school athletic events; violations are Class C misdemeanors.

• Permits firearms in locked vehicles at sheriff's offices that issue pistol permits and allows employees to possess firearms in private vehicles in parking areas under certain conditions.

• Exempts law enforcement officers and qualified retired law enforcement officers (meeting 10-year service requirement and recent firearms qualification standards) from firearm restrictions.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
