SB63 Summary

• Amends Section 41-9-291 of the Code of Alabama 1975 relating to the Alabama Underwater Cultural Resources Act.

• Deletes language from the definition of "cultural resources" that previously required items to be eligible for or listed in the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage.

• Revised definition of cultural resources now requires items to be eligible for or listed in the National Register of Historic Places only, removing the Alabama Register requirement.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.

• Senate passed April 30, 2019; House passed May 30, 2019.
