SB66 Summary

• Allows hunters to take whitetail deer or feral swine using bait on privately owned or leased lands if they purchase a baiting privilege license from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

• Resident baiting privilege license costs $14 plus $1 issuance fee; nonresident license costs $50 plus $1 issuance fee, with fees subject to adjustment under Section 9-11-68.

• Persons exempt from purchasing a hunting license are still required to purchase a baiting privilege license to use bait for hunting.

• Authorizes the commissioner to suspend baiting privilege licenses without refund and adopt rules to manage wild game feeding on a county, regional, or statewide basis to prevent disease spread among wildlife, with suspension announced via news release.

• Act became effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
