SB7 Summary

• Prohibits telephone solicitors from knowingly displaying misleading caller identification information with intent to defraud, cause harm, or wrongfully obtain anything of value.

• Exempts solicitations made on behalf of charitable institutions and calls where the proper caller identification of the party on whose behalf the solicitation is made has been substituted.

• Makes violations of the caller identification prohibition also violations of the Deceptive Trade Practices Act, enabling enforcement by the Attorney General.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
