AL SJR21

Recreates the Joint Legislative Committee to Study Self-Driving Vehicles composed of 5 Alabama Senate members appointed by the Lieutenant Governor and 5 House members appointed by the Speaker of the House.

Committee membership shall reflect the racial, gender, geographic, urban, rural, and economic diversity of the state.

Committee shall study all aspects of self-driving vehicles including public safety and state/local economic impact, and assess how existing state legislation affects testing of automated vehicles in Alabama.

Any bill authorizing, prohibiting, or regulating self-driving or autonomous vehicles must be referred to the committee for review and comment before being placed on a standing committee agenda in either house.

Committee shall dissolve on the last legislative day of the 2022 Regular Session.
