• Redesignates the Cochrane-Africatown, U.S.A. Bridge over the Mobile River as the Africatown Bridge.

• Bridge was completed and opened in 1991 as Alabama's first and only cable-stayed bridge and has received recognition from the State Engineering Hall of Fame, National Society of Professional Engineers, and Federal Highway Administration.

• Bridge location is adjacent to the historical communities of Africatown and Plateau, founded by descendants of enslaved Africans brought to America aboard the slave ship Clotilda.
