• Requires the Alabama Medicaid Agency to increase reimbursement rates for nine specific ambulance service codes provided to Medicaid recipients who are not Medicare-eligible, subject to federal government approval.

• Reimbursement rates for covered ambulance services shall be set at 75 percent of the applicable Medicare rate for each service level.

• Covered services include ground mileage, advanced life support (levels one and two), emergency transport, basic life support non-emergency transport, non-emergency transport, conventional air transport, specialty care transport, and rotary wing air mileage.

• Reimbursement increases apply only to providers licensed by the Alabama Department of Public Health to provide emergency medical services.

• Act becomes effective immediately upon passage and gubernatorial approval or upon otherwise becoming law.
