HB15 Summary

• Amends Section 16-8-2 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to reduce the term of office for county board of education members from six years to four years.

• County board members elected at general elections for state and county officers shall serve four-year terms to succeed members whose terms expire.

• County board members continue to hold office until their successors are elected and qualified.

• All members must take and subscribe to the oath of office prescribed by Article XVI of the state constitution, with certificates filed in the county judge of probate's office.

• Act becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor, or upon otherwise becoming law.
