HB20 Summary

• Public K-12 schools may not participate in, sponsor, or provide coaching staff for interscholastic athletic events scheduled by athletic associations that permit individuals who are not biological males to compete in male-only events or individuals who are not biological females to compete in female-only events.

• Counties, municipalities, and other local government entities are prohibited from using or permitting public athletic facilities, stadiums, fields, or structures for athletic competitions where non-biological males participate in male-only events or non-biological females participate in female-only events.

• State-owned or state-controlled athletic facilities, stadiums, fields, or other property may not be used or permitted for athletic competitions where individuals who are not biological males compete in male-only events or individuals who are not biological females compete in female-only events.

• All prohibitions do not apply to athletic events where both biological males and biological females are permitted or allowed to participate.

• The act becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
