HB211 Summary

• Amends Section 36-29-14 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to add Volunteers of America to the list of entities eligible for state health insurance coverage under the State Employees' Insurance Board.

• Employees, officers, members, and retirees of Volunteers of America may elect to participate in the State Employees' Health Insurance Plan by adopting a resolution conforming to State Employees' Insurance Board rules.

• Participation creates no liability to the state or the State Employees' Health Insurance Plan, and acceptance of employees is optional with the State Employees' Insurance Board.

• Employers must remit required premiums to the State Employees' Insurance Board and may withdraw from the plan with six months' written notice, remaining liable for unreported claims and accrued interest at 1.5% per month on overdue amounts.

• Becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
