HB244 Summary

• Allows licensed motor vehicle wholesale auctions to purchase up to 25 auction transit license plates instead of temporary seven-day plates for transporting vehicles to and from auction.

• Requires auction transit license plates to be purchased at the same fee as private passenger automobile registration plus a $2 issuance fee per plate.

• Mandates that licensed motor vehicle wholesale auctions obtain a supplemental license for each additional location upon payment of a $5 application fee.

• Requires licensed motor vehicle wholesale auctions to maintain blanket motor vehicle liability insurance coverage on vehicles operated on public streets and highways and file evidence of insurance with the license application.

• Becomes effective October 1, 2020.
