HB30 Summary

• Requires each county governing body to designate and provide at least one early voting center where registered voters may vote during the 14 days immediately preceding election day

• Early voting centers must be open between 4 to 6 days during the one-week period immediately before election day, with hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays, and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sundays

• Allows county governing bodies with multiple early voting centers to determine their own boundary configurations and which days each center operates

• Preserves all existing powers and duties of boards of registrars, judges of probate, and other election officials under Title 17, Code of Alabama 1975, and does not affect standard election day voting procedures

• Directs the Secretary of State to adopt rules for implementing and administering the early voting program, with the act becoming effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval
