AL HB333

Expands exemption from public works bidding requirements for heating or air conditioning unit and system purchases to apply to any governmental entity, not just local governing bodies.

Requires the governmental entity to use a competitive bid process approved by the Department of Examiners of Public Accounts to qualify for the exemption.

Maintains existing conditions that the purchase must be from an Alabama vendor with approved vendor status and either unavailable through the state purchasing program or available at equal or lower cost through a purchasing cooperative.

Requires the Department of Examiners of Public Accounts to notify the entity that the competitive bid process complies with state competitive bid laws before the exemption applies.

Takes effect on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
