HB441 Summary

• Permits Medal of Honor recipients, Purple Heart recipients, former prisoners of war, and veterans with service-connected disabilities to use Alabama National Guard facilities on the same basis as retired or retainer pay-eligible Armed Forces members.

• Grants caregivers and family caregivers of veterans access to Alabama National Guard facilities on the same basis as retired or retainer pay-eligible Armed Forces members.

• Authorizes the Adjutant General of the Alabama National Guard to adopt rules necessary to implement the act.

• Preserves the Alabama National Guard's authority to control access to locations and facilities for security and good order purposes.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
