The Alabama Scenic River Trail (ASRT) was established in 2008 and designated as a National Recreational Trail in 2009 and National Water Trail in 2012, extending 650 miles from Northeast Alabama's Weiss Lake to Fort Morgan at the Gulf of Mexico.

The ASRT expanded to more than 6,500 miles of accessible waterways by 2020 and facilitated development of over 60 canoe and kayak rental shops and outfitters.

The Great Alabama 650 adventure race was inaugurated in 2019 along the original 650-mile ASRT section, generating over 1,000,000 impressions from news stories and social media.

Race division winners are commended: Bobby Johnson (male solo, 7 days, 8 hours, 1 minute), Salli O'Donnell (female solo, 7 days, 15 hours, 19 minutes), and Susan Jordan and Ryan Gillikin (two-person team, 9 days, 3 hours, 18 minutes).

Copies of the resolution shall be sent to ASRT office headquarters and to each division winner.
