The Alabama Legislature commends Reverend Jeffery L. Davis for his outstanding accomplishments and contributions.

Reverend Davis was born in Carlton, Alabama and earned an Associate's, Bachelor's, and Master's Degrees in Divinity from Ministry International Institute in Powell, Tennessee.

He was a civil rights pioneer, including filing a lawsuit that led to the first black sheriff of Mobile County and being the first black supply inspector hired at Brookley Field.

At Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, he became the first black supervisor in redistribution and marketing and achieved subsequent promotions as the first black sub-unit chief and unit sections chief.

Following his retirement, he returned to Mobile and served as president of the board for the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance, Crichton Millville Civil Organization, and the Axis-Creola Civic League, and served as pastor of Milledgeville AME Zion Church for twenty years.
