SB113 Summary

• Amends Section 22-1-15 of the Alabama Code to expand the autism spectrum disorder certification card to include persons with other cognitive, mental, neurological, or physical disabilities.

• Requires the Alabama Department of Public Health to issue certification cards upon request by individuals with qualifying disabilities or their guardians/caregivers, with cards presentable to law enforcement as needed.

• Directs the Department of Public Health to establish rules defining the medical proof required for applicants requesting certification cards.

• Authorizes the department to collect a reasonable fee for card issuance as determined by the department.

• Becomes effective January 1, 2021, following passage and approval by the Governor.
