SB122 Summary

• Prohibits the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, members of the Legislature, and candidates for those offices from soliciting, accepting, or receiving contributions from gaming or pari-mutual wagering operation owners, operators, officers, and directors.

• Prohibits gaming and pari-mutual wagering operation owners and operators from making contributions to the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, members of the Legislature, or candidates for those offices, including contributions to principal campaign committees and political action committees.

• Applies the contribution ban based on actual knowledge or what a public official or candidate reasonably should have known about the person's gaming or racing operation authorization.

• Provisions are severable, allowing the law to remain in effect if any portion is declared invalid or unconstitutional.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and gubernatorial approval.
