SB 148 Summary

• Increases the maximum combined total of dealer and motorcycle dealer license plates that a licensed used motor vehicle dealer may purchase from 5 to 10 plates.

• Removes the requirement that used motor vehicle dealers complete 300 or more title transfer applications during the preceding dealer license year to qualify for the higher plate limit.

• Licensed new motor vehicle dealers continue to be able to purchase a maximum of 35 combined dealer and motorcycle dealer license plates, with an option to purchase up to 25 additional plates if they complete 300 or more title transfers in the previous year.

• Effective October 1, 2020, following passage and approval by the Governor.
