AL SB151

Requires the Joint Transportation Committee to select a qualified, independent entity to conduct an economic impact study before building new toll roads, bridges, or tunnels or expanding existing facilities for tolling purposes.

Mandates the study be completed prior to the public hearing required under existing law and include quantitative estimates of effects on state and local economy, including impacts on commercial and industrial development, employment, future development opportunities, and revenues.

Requires the Department of Transportation to pay all costs associated with the study and post the completed study on its public website.

Directs the Department of Transportation to provide written notice to the Alabama Toll Road, Bridge and Tunnel Authority upon study completion.

Allows the public to comment on the economic impact study results at the required public hearing.
