• Amends Section 16-40A-2 of the Alabama Code to revise requirements for sex education programs in public K-12 schools.

• Requires all sex education curricula to emphasize abstinence from sexual intercourse as the only completely effective protection against unintended pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections, and HIV.

• Mandates that abstinence from sex outside lawful marriage be presented as the expected social standard for unmarried school-age persons.

• Requires course materials to include age-appropriate, medically accurate information on contraception reliability, financial responsibilities related to pregnancy and childbirth, sexual abuse laws, peer pressure resistance, and parenting skills.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and gubernatorial approval.
