SB321 Summary

• Amends Section 12-15-134, Code of Alabama 1975, to permit release of juvenile law enforcement records when a child is tried and convicted as an adult pursuant to Section 12-15-204.

• Previously, law enforcement records could only be released if a delinquency charge was transferred for criminal prosecution after a juvenile transfer hearing.

• Maintains existing protections requiring law enforcement agencies to take special precautions to protect juvenile records from unauthorized disclosure unless specific conditions are met.

• Makes nonsubstantive, technical revisions to update code language to current style, including updated references to the Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center.

• Takes effect on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
