SB49 Summary

• Increases the Alabama State Board of Respiratory Therapy from five to six members by adding one consumer member appointed by the Governor.

• Consumer member shall be selected from names submitted by the Alabama Cystic Fibrosis Association, the Alabama Lung Association, and the Alabama Asthma Coalition, with each entity submitting one name.

• Consumer member serves four-year terms after the initial appointment period, subject to the same restrictions on consecutive terms as other board members.

• Requires all appointing authorities to coordinate appointments to ensure diversity of gender, race, and geographical areas reflects the state's makeup.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
