SB 75 Summary

• Prohibits the Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency from suspending a driver's license solely because the driver failed to pay a fine, penalty, fee, or court cost associated with a traffic conviction.

• Exception applies only when the court determines the driver to be indigent; suspension for non-payment is not permitted in these cases.

• Does not apply to violations listed in subsections (j) or (k) of Section 32-5A-195, which include mandatory revocation offenses such as manslaughter, homicide by vehicle, DUI convictions, and other serious traffic crimes.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor, or when the bill otherwise becomes law.
