HB123 Summary

• Amends Section 17-4-33 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to allow registered voters and their spouses who are federal or state prosecutors, judges, or law enforcement officers to submit a signed affidavit requesting omission of personal information from publicly available voter registration lists.

• Permits only the voter's name to appear on generally available lists while omitting residential address, mailing address, and all other information for eligible individuals.

• Adds a third category of voters eligible for address redaction, alongside existing protections for domestic violence victims and those with active domestic violence protection orders.

• Requires the Secretary of State to develop and provide the affidavit form to each county for completion by eligible voters.

• Became effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
