• Amends Alabama Code Sections 12-16-215 and 12-16-216 to remove grand jury witnesses from confidentiality restrictions that apply to grand jurors, court reporters, and stenographers regarding disclosure of grand jury testimony and proceedings.

• Allows grand jury witnesses to disclose knowledge or facts about a case that became known to them prior to testifying before the grand jury, notwithstanding other secrecy provisions.

• Preserves the State of Alabama's ability to use grand jury witness testimony to impeach testimony at trial, prosecute perjury charges, and present evidence to grand juries in other circuits upon proper subpoena.

• Makes technical and stylistic updates to existing code language for clarity and consistency.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
