HB332 Summary

• Amends Alabama Code Section 32-5C-2 to exempt active or retired state, local, and federal law enforcement officers from window tinting prohibitions on their personal use vehicles.

• Officers are permitted to operate personal vehicles with tinted windows that would otherwise violate light transmission requirements (less than 32 percent) or light reflectance limits (more than 20 percent).

• Requires all active or retired law enforcement officers to carry law enforcement identification while driving their personal vehicles with tinted windows.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.

• Passed by the House on April 7, 2021 and the Senate on April 29, 2021.
