Amends Section 13A-11-61.1 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to make it unlawful to discharge a firearm on school property, expanding existing law that only prohibited discharge into school buildings and buses.

Establishes a Class B felony for discharging a firearm on school property during school hours or during school activities after school hours.

Establishes a Class C felony for discharging a firearm on school property at other times.

Provides exceptions for persons justified in using physical force under self-defense law, and for organized firearm competitions or performances by groups under federal tax code Section 501(c)(3).

Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
