HB41 Summary

• Amends Sections 41-12-1 and 41-12-3 of the Code of Alabama 1975 regarding the First White House of the Confederacy.

• Removes language describing the building as "a perpetual memorial to Jefferson Davis and the men and women associated with him" and references to "this great historical event."

• Removes language from Section 41-12-3 describing the property's management purpose related to cultivation of Confederate history and preservation of Confederate relics, and characterization of "southern statesmen and southern valor."

• Makes nonsubstantive technical revisions to update code language to current style, including grammar and formatting corrections.

• Becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
