Any municipality within Dale County may contract with the county sheriff to provide police services including enforcement of all laws and municipal ordinances within the municipality's corporate limits and police jurisdiction.

Municipalities contracting for police services must pay to the county treasury a sum sufficient to provide necessary manpower and equipment as mutually agreed upon by the municipal governing body, sheriff, and county commission.

County governing body may receive funds from contracting municipalities and expend those funds for police services in the contracting municipality, including its police jurisdiction.

All contracts between the sheriff and contracting municipality require consent and approval of both the sheriff and the county commission.

The sheriff and commissioned deputies retain all legal and constitutional immunity afforded by law and the act becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and governor approval.
