• Amends Section 12-25-35, Code of Alabama 1975, to clarify who may complete voluntary sentencing standards worksheets in felony cases.

• Changes requirement from probation officer, district attorney, or judge-appointed person to an employee of the Board of Pardons and Paroles for completing worksheets.

• Allows the district attorney or district attorney employee to complete voluntary sentencing standards worksheets for judicial consideration as an alternative.

• Maintains existing requirements that trial courts review worksheets, consider applicable sentencing standards, and record on the record that worksheets have been reviewed and considered.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
