HB507 Summary

• Amends Section 17-11-2 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to authorize county commissions to designate one or more additional places or offices for absentee voting beyond the principal location.

• Requires the absentee election manager to be physically present at any additional designated location when it is open for absentee voting purposes, including applications, ballot distribution, and ballot returns.

• Mandates that non-courthouse additional voting locations remain under exclusive county control during all election cycles in which absentee voting duties are performed there.

• Requires county commissions to designate dates for the absentee election manager's presence at each location at least 14 days before absentee voting begins and publicize these dates to qualified electors.

• All designated absentee voting locations must operate on the same days and hours as the circuit clerk's office prior to each election.
