HB582 Summary

• Amends Section 9-16-73 of the Alabama Code to change the Alabama Surface Mining Commission's meeting requirement from at least once every month to at least once every two months.

• Allows the Governor, commission chair, or director to require more frequent meetings than every two months when necessary to fulfill the commission's duties and obligations.

• Maintains all other provisions governing the seven-member commission's composition, member qualifications, appointment procedures, compensation, and removal processes.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
