• Amends Section 41-20-4 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to allow the President Pro Tempore of the Senate to appoint a designee to serve on the Sunset Committee in their place.

• The Sunset Committee is a select joint committee consisting of three members from the House, three members from the Senate, the President Pro Tempore of the Senate (or designee), and the Speaker Pro Tem of the House.

• Committee members retain entitlement to legislative per diem and expenses for attending meetings, paid from appropriated legislative funds, with no limitation on meeting days but payment only for days actively engaged in committee business.

• The committee is charged with implementing sunset review procedures and establishing administrative procedures to facilitate the review and evaluation process.

• Becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor, or upon otherwise becoming law.
