HB617 Summary

• State and local government entities are prohibited from issuing vaccine or immunization passports, passes, or any standardized documentation certifying immunization status, except as required by Chapter 30 of Title 16, Code of Alabama 1975, or other applicable state law.

• Government entities cannot require individuals to receive an immunization or provide immunization documentation as a condition for receiving government benefits, services, or entry into government buildings, with exceptions for requirements under Chapter 30 of Title 16 or other state law.

• Entities and individuals doing business in Alabama cannot refuse to provide goods or services or deny admission to individuals based on their immunization status or lack of immunization documentation.

• The act becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor, or upon otherwise becoming law.
